HEADSHOTS & Model Updates

Children may need headshots for a variety of reasons, such as auditioning for acting or modeling roles, applying for school programs or scholarships, or creating a portfolio for their creative endeavors. A professional headshot can help showcase a child's personality and potential, and make a positive first impression on those who view it.

Helpful tips to get the best from your headshots

  • Always schedule a session at a time that works best for you and your child. Consider your child's usual routine, such as nap times and meal times, and try to schedule the session when they are typically at their happiest and most cooperative.

  • Before the session, we can discuss the purpose of the headshots, any specific poses or styles you have in mind, and any concerns you may have regarding your child's comfort during the shoot.

  • It’s always a good idea to talk to your child about the photo session in advance, explaining what will happen and what they can expect. Encourage them to be themselves and have fun during the shoot. Let them help you to choose their outfit to help them feel comfortable and confident.

  • When choosing outfits, avoid overwhelming your child with elaborate outfits, props, or accessories. Opt for simple, timeless clothing that reflects their personality without overshadowing their natural charm. Simple, age appropriate styling will ensure the focus remains on their face and expressions. Clothing with large logo or busy patterns are probably best avoided. Neutral mid-tones that flatter your child’s colouring work best.

  • Arrive on time so that your child doesn’t feel rushed or overwhelmed. This will give them a chance to explore the space and become comfortable before the session begins. While we have a job to do, we always aim to keep things relaxed and fun, which makes it easier for your child to get into 'character' and for us to get lots of different expressions.

  • We understand that very young children can be unpredictable, and not every moment will go according to plan. Stay patient and flexible, allowing your child to take breaks or express themselves freely. Sometimes the candid, unplanned moments make for the most memorable photos!

  • After the session, I will let you know when to expect a link to view your finished gallery. We recommend involving your child in the process of reviewing and selecting the final images. This not only empowers them but also ensures that the chosen photos truly reflect their personality and style.

  • The level of editing/retouching applied to  your images is entirely your personal taste. Casting directors will want to see your child looking as natural and true to life as possible, so while I recommend removing any blemishes that are not permanent, It’s wise to keep edits to a minimum and to let your child’s looks and personality speak for itself.
